The Cumbrian Alps

We had a little snow this week so it was decided we'd try hit the local piste. Yadmoss is not too far away from Carlisle and is a great little place if there's enough white stuff about, and fortunately for us there was. It's £20 for a day pass (providing you get there early enough) and there's plenty of room on and off the piste to play around on.

The run is serviced by a Poma lift which isn't the easiest to use but it helps keeps some of the less experienced folk away. We had a great day out on the hill, got plenty of runs in and it just felt nice to be riding real snow again.

A bit chilly

Winter seems to have settled in the lake District, I was out for a short ride today at a pretty white Whinlatter. Decided to ride up the south side as it's been a while and the view from the top is pretty darned good, was harder work than usual due to a little snow and ice but the run down was fun and drifty, a great way to waste a few hours.

Morzine 2011

Earlier this year I went out to Morzine for a little biking trip, we stopped with Mountain Mavericks in their lovely big chalet not too far out of Morzine itself. The weather was amazing while we were there, sunny during the day with some great thunderstorms and lightning shows at night (from the comfort of the hot tub). I would highly recommend it to anyone, have a look at some of the photos below from the trip or just see the full album here: Morzine 2011

The hills of home

Since i've just moved back home to the Lake District I thought i'd try using blogger to showcase some photos of biking trips and other things that I get up to in my spare time.

One of the first big rides out was an adventure up and around Grizedale Pike. It's one hell of a hike up to the top but once up it's a pretty special view especially when the skies are so beautifully clear as they were on this day.

You can see a couple of pics from the day below:
